About Us
ComForCare Home Care South New Jersey is a family nurse practitioner-owned home care agency dedicated to providing compassionate, reliable, and exceptional non-medical support to clients in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and engaging Live-In Companion to provide companionship and non-medical assistance to a client in their home.
Position Summary
The Live-In Companion will provide a safe, supportive, and engaging presence in the client's home while promoting independence, dignity, social engagement, and quality of life.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with older adults, is patient and dependable, and understands the importance of building a trusting relationship with the client and family.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Provide friendly companionship and meaningful conversation
- Participate in recreational and social activities with the client
- Encourage appropriate physical activity, such as walking
- Accompany the client to appointments, errands, shopping, community activities, or social outings as permitted by the care plan
- Assist with meal preparation and simple meal planning
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client's immediate living environment
- Assist with laundry and maintaining an organized living space
- Provide reminders and encouragement with daily routines and activities of daily living
- Provide supervision and safety monitoring
- Encourage independence while providing appropriate support
- Help reduce social isolation through meaningful engagement
- Observe and report changes in the client's condition, behavior, mood, or routine to the appropriate supervisor
- Follow the client's individualized care plan and company policies and procedures
- Maintain client privacy, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
- Communicate professionally with the client, family members, care team, and agency staff
Live-In Expectations
Because this is a live-in position, the caregiver must be comfortable residing in the client's home during the scheduled assignment.
The caregiver will have an appropriate private sleeping area and designated personal time consistent with the agreed-upon schedule and applicable requirements.
This position is for companionship and non-medical support. The Companion may not perform nursing, medical, or other tasks requiring a professional license or certification unless appropriately credentialed and authorized to do so.
Qualifications
- Previous experience providing companion, home care, personal care, caregiving, or senior support is preferred
- Compassionate, patient, and dependable personality
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to establish a positive and trusting relationship with clients
- Ability to work independently in a client's home
- Reliable transportation may be required depending on the assignment
- Ability to pass applicable background screening and meet agency hiring requirements
- CPR/First Aid certification is a mandatory
